A Reminder, You Know?

 

You know

Sometimes I don’t even realize this

But

There are as many people in the world

That don’t want to talk to you

And those who are actually willing to

And sometimes

It’s not even because of you

It’s just maybe because

Your paths just haven’t crossed

Or because the time wasn’t perfect

Or because you’ve tried

But you’re tired

And the other person too

You know

Sometimes I just forget about this

But

You can only ask life for things

You can actually bear

Because life is so freaking kind

Life will give you everything you want

Eventually

And eventually

You’ll have to be the one to carry them all

But you only got two hands

And two legs and feet

And just enough muscles

To actually carry some of it

Because to have all is greedy

And to have too little is misery

But enough is enough

Enough is enough

You know

Sometimes I don’t even notice this

But

You’re just good enough the way you are

The way you look

The way you walk

The way you show yourself to the world 

But you keep on being your biggest judge

Even though you never liked judging others

Why be so cruel to you when you can be so kind?

Why punish yourself so bad?

Why think that you’re ugly?

Why feel that you’re less than anyone else?

Why be kind to others but not to yourself too?

It is you that’s always been with you

People come and people go

But you will always have you

Why be so hard on you?

You know

Sometimes I just don’t remember this

But

Have you ever noticed how wonderful

You really are?

Somebody with a lot of strength

That doesn’t shy away from challenges

That keeps on pushing through on hard times

That conquered in impeccable ways

That stands up after the fall

That comes back even stronger than ever before

Have you ever noticed that?

You had a hell of a life back then

You were hurt, you were stepped on

You were sad, thought you wanted to be gone

But here you are

Reading this

Listening to this in your heart 

This is yourself talking to you

Your strong, truthful self speaking to you

You are amazing

You are mesmerizing

See how far you’ve come

You know

Sometimes I don’t even know this myself

But

You’re a blessing on earth to those you love

To those that love you

You’re a kind soul to this wrecked humanity

You just wanna do good

Your intentions are good

And hey,

You have been really good so far

You’ve done good things

You’ve made people feel good

Now you can make yourself feel good too

This world needs more good people like you

Thank you for being so good

So good that you even forget to thank yourself

I’m glad I’ve ever known you

As a friend, as somebody I talked to

As another human

Really, thank you

Thank you for existing and making the world feel

Less blue

Adding other colors to its hue

Thank you for ever staying so true

Life’s so much better with someone like you
