While We’re Here
I forgot that driving a car means sitting on a moving air and rubber
I forgot that the east is somehow hotter than the west
And the north taller than the south
At least in my city
Where they say love grows
Where they say missing feeling blooms
I forgot that flying an airplane means hovering over something unseen
Like the air and the pressure and those wings to slice them
I forgot that floating on a ship means we’re lighter than the water
Even though it’s something you can’t grab or grip
But we can still sink if the position isn’t right
Just like love
I forgot that being in love starts with falling into it
But if you fall you’ll most probably bruise
And if you bruise it’ll most probably sting and hurt
I forgot that falling in love was hurting in silent
Until I fell in love and we don’t match
At least not now, not tomorrow
I forgot how loving you was so easy
Until things got a little messy
I forgot how you’re so fine
Until you’re not anymore
I forgot how you’re lovable
No, I never forget that one
You still are the one
The most lovable, the most fun
No, I didn’t forget that one
So I will love you while I still can
As a friend as anything you want
As the one or less than the one
I never forget that love was about giving
And to you I’ll be the most forgiving
Because as much as I forgot that running means trusting your body on smaller surfaces of your feet
I don’t forget that we’re once a fit
So I believe we can still be it
We’ll judge that by the time we meet
Because I’m not made for a defeat
Not even for that virus named Covid
So we’ll run together again, right? We’ll run!
We’ll have fun again, right? We’ll have fun!
Until either one of us is gone
Until our hearts say “it’s time to move on“
